Spelling Bee at Park School

The competition was tough.  All the Park Spelling Bee contestants had prepared.  Everyone watching were impressed at how well these Spelling Bee contestants were doing.  It was a battle to the last speller standing!  Great job to all of those students who participated.  Congratulations go out to the winners!

Opera by Children at Park School

On January 21st the 4th grade students presented 3 mini-operas.  Each opera is written by the students, the props and set design and the costuming is done by the students with some teacher and parent help. 

The operas were based on events in Utah history.  Mrs. Smithee's class presented: "The Midnight Mystery" a pioneer story.  Mrs. Perschon's class presented: "The Watches of Time" a time travel opera to Thistle, Utah.  Mr. Hales' class presented: "The Pony Express" a wild west adventure.

Utah Water Van Visits Park School

The Utah Water Van is an educational outreach program offered by The Living Aquarium to fourth grade students throughout Utah.  Our presenters Ashley Kerbs and Kristen Bonner brought models to help teach our students about the water cycle, Utah weather, water conservation and Utah wetlands.  The students were also able to see a garter snake and a tiger salamander up close and personal.  The program was very interactive, engaging, and fun.              We learned that Utah is the 2nd driest state i

Corbin White presents: The Self-Esteem Motivational Assembly

Wednesday, January 20th the students at Park School were taught to avoid drugs, alcohol and violence.  This assembly presented by Corbin White focuses on getting a "natural high".  This assembly required lots of student participation from  giving ideas of what can give you a "natural high" to singing karaoke to their peers.  A fun time was had by all, including the teachers who got to perform "Twist & Shout".  Thank you Corbin White for helping us remember all the good things we can do to be happy!

Shakespeare Performed at Park

On Tuesday, October 13, the BYU Theater Group performed the play The Tempest for the 2nd - 6th graders.  Trevin Harris from Miss Jordan's 2nd grade class helped with sound effects by using a rain stick for the storm at the beginning of the play.  Ariel played by Caitlin Webb kept us very entertained.

BYU Athletes Visit Park School

At the "Green Ribbon Week" assembly the students got to hear from 3 BYU athletes.  Each athlete shared with the students how important it is to stay healthy & fit.  The athletes that came were: baseball player Chad Nacapoy, cross country runner Jessica Hauser & sprinter Kevin Biesinger.

Dads and Donuts

Park School PTA kicks off another school year of Dads and Donuts at Park School.  Each month, on the first Friday a grade level of students celebrates reading with their Dads.  Thank you Park PTA.  We look forward to more great reading.
