The month of May brough out sprinters, long jumpers and long distance runners as the Spanish Fork City Recreation Department sponsored the annual Hershey Track Meet.  The majority of the Park Elementary School students from grades 3-6 participated in this event.  The weather went from cold, to cold and damp, to beautiful depending on what day your grade level was assigned.  Despite the weather conditions all who participated tried their best and had fun.  Congratulations to all who won!  (Pictures are from the 4th grade meet)

The Fourth Grade students at Park visited the Alf Engen Ski Museum and Olympic Park just outside Park City on April 22, 2011.  We learned more about the importance of snow to the economy of Utah and the importance of the snow pack to our water supply for the residents of Utah.  We learned that after the silver mines closed in Park City the snow became white gold, by bringing in tourists that wanted to ski.  The students got to see where athletes practice aerial ski jumps in the summer by going off ramps into a swimming pool.  We went to the top of the bobsled run and had

On January 19, 2011 the annual Spelling Bee was held.  The competition was tough as usual.  The teachers and audience of the fourth through sixth grade students and parents held their breath as we watched students spell words that some of us couldn't even pronounce.  All those who competed are to be commended for getting to this level of spelling expertise.  The school is very proud of you.  The final 3 were Britney Jensen-3rd place, Wynter Watkins-2nd place and Sam Weaver in first place.  Sam went on to compete at the district level in March.

Babe - The Sheep Pig

On February 24, 2011 our students were delighted by a production of Babe, the Sheep Pig.  This assembly was presented by the Young Company of Brigham Young University.  The play was performed in the middle of the auditorium instead of on the stage.  The students were seated on the floor around a large X pathway between them.  This X pathway was where most of the action took place.  Many Park students got to join the actors by being ducks, dogs, puppies, sheep and a camera man.  The story truly came to life.
