Veterans Day, November 11, 2011, the students at Park School were privileged to have local veterans present an assembly highlighting the great accomplishments of our military. The veterans introduced themselves and told the students which branch of the military they served in and which conflict. They represented World War II up through the War in Afghanistan and Iraq. The students were shown a short video which showed how our military help people all over the world.

Marshall Reese, son of Martin and Joyce Reese, recently did his Eagle Project at Park Elementary School. His project was a large map of the United States stenciled and painted on the asphalt in the playground area of the school. The map is bright and colorful. Several businesses in Provo and Orem donated supplies and paint to help Marshall accomplish his Eagle project. Marshall is a sophomore at Maple Mountain High School. Marshall is a hard working young man who desires to do his best inside and outside of school.

Park Elementary has been recognized by the Utah State Office of Education as one of the 2011 Utah High Performing Title I Schools.  This recognition is provided to Utah Title I schools that are able to demonstrate high levels of student achievement.  To earn the Utah High Performing Title I School Award schools must make Annual Yearly Progress for at least two years, score at or above the state average on state math and language arts tests, and be nominated by their district superintendents.  Our teachers, staff, students and parents have worked very hard. 

We have some new faces at Park Elementary School for the 2011-12 school year.  We would like to welcome Miss Lindsee Brice and Michelle Hartman to the second grade team.  We welcome Mrs. Sarah Sumsion and Mrs. Aprel Mendenhall to our sixth grade team.  We hope they will be happy here at Park School.  We are glad they are here and know that they will add strength to our faculty.
