Counselor Lesson

Submitted by lacee.stoneman on

For her monthly grade level lessons, our school counselor Mrs. J taught about why it's important to identify emotions in yourself and others.   We talked about how emotions are like a traffic signal: they give us really important information that can keep us safe.  Students learned that there is no such thing as a bad emotion.  But also, if you ignore or try to push away those uncomfortable emotions, emotional eruptions or explosions can happen.  Just like shaking up a can of soda, the pressure mounts and one little thing can make you "pop your top".

Fourth Grade Learning Fun

Mrs. Webb’s class used online learning games to help them practice some language arts skills in way that doesn’t feel like “learning.” Students worked on identifying synonyms and antonyms and correct capitalization among other things!

5th Grade Social Studies Activity

Submitted by lacee.stoneman on

5th graders had a lot of fun learning about the Intolerable Acts in social studies through a role play activity.  Some of it was fun, but at the end of the day when the Redcoats came and took their chairs to teach them how the colonists had the responsibility to house or give them quarters, some students didn’t like getting their chairs taken away!

Mrs. Judkins visits our Fourth graders!

Submitted by lacee.stoneman on

Fourth graders recently met with Mrs. Judkins, our school counselor. She meets with each grade level every month to help students understand more than just the ABC’s and 123’s. In this lesson, students learned more about choices and how sometimes we don’t a choice in what happens, but we can always make a choice about how we handle it!

Mrs.Taylor’s class having fun doing math!

Submitted by lacee.stoneman on

Mrs. Taylor’s students were math detectives today.  They had to use their math skills they’ve learned so far this year to solve a math mystery.  The students had fun solving math problems to get clues that help us solve the mystery.
