Mr. Elliott was recently honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award presented by the Utah Education Association and major sponsor Key Bank. Mr. Elliott is 1 of 10 teachers in the state of Utah to receive this award.
First grade students know the 7 Habits will save them from the ghouls and goblins of Halloween.
Students were treated to a great surprise today as they arrived at school. There was a derby car and truck and several classic cars including a 1928 Model A, 1972 Cougar and 1967 Mustang Fast Back waiting for them. Each class had an opportunity to go out and see the cars as Mrs. Wirfs made the comparison of a healthy, drug free body (classics) to the not healthy body (demolition). Each student signed a drug free pledge promising to stay drug free.
In their class they "stomped" on balloons filled with candy as they stomped out drug use.
Red Ribbon Week:
Green Day
Students had the “Time of Their Life” at the Green Man assembly in connection to Green Day for Red Ribbon Week. Clint Pulver from Utah Valley University entertained a sea of green Park Panthers with a Drug Free message that will stick with students tighter than a Green Man suit.
These scary characters are like tribal people from the past. The students in Mrs. Cooper's class made their own masks while studying about prehistory in Social Studies. The sixth grade students learned about tribal governments and how to solve problems such as not having enough food and what to do if someone steals food or won't do his share. They can use these skills to understand the difficulties facing our own government and learn to solve their own problems.
Mr. Elliott is one of ten finalists for the Teaching in Excellence Award. We are proud of Mr. Elliott and all that he does to help Park Elementary students.
The following is an excerpt from Mrs. Leifson’s nomination application. Way to go Mr. Elliott!
Victory Assembly
Park students celebrated the first Victory Assembly of the year. Victory Assemblies is a school wide celebration of achievement in the areas of Math, Language Arts, and Leadership. Teachers select one student in each area that has shown growth in these three areas to receive the award. We are excited for the students that were selected for the month of September and look forward to each student earning an award throughout the year.
