Veterans Day

“I will always do my duty, no matter what the price.

I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice.

Oh and I don’t wanna die for you,

But if dying’s asked of me,

I’ll bear that cross with honor,

’Cause freedom don’t come free.”

American Soldier by Toby Keith

These words could very well represent the feelings of many Veterans that were honored at Park Elementary on November 11, 2014.  We are grateful for those who sacrificed so much and continue to put their lives on the line to keep us safe and free.

Veterans Day is always a special day at Park Elementary.  It was a very respectful and reflective moment as Park students lined the hallway waving the United States flag as Veterans and Park family members walked the halls to be recognized for their service.

Students also showed great respect as they listened to Veterans report on their service to our country.  Students also honored family members by submitting a photo to be shown in a patriotic slideshow that brought tears of joy, sadness, and pride.  A great moment was at the end of the slideshow when students sang God Bless America.

At the end of the assembly, a veteran from the local legion said “I just love coming to this school!”

Thank you to the parents and students that submitted photos, Mr. Kay for his hard work on the slideshow, Mrs. Banks for the refreshments, Mrs. Lowe for teaching Park Panthers the music, and most of all our Veterans for their honorable service to this great nation.
