Fifth grade teachers, Jenn Sorenson & Deana Coates, have been selected to recieve a grant to participate in the  summer 2013 field study, Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute, sponsered by Driven 2 Teach.

The Driven 2 Teach program takes teachers out of the classroom and to the very places where history happened – they travel there so they can teach it here. Those experiences then elevate and enhance history for their students.

Welcome to the 5th Grade, Mrs. Coates

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Mrs. Coates is not new to Park Elementary, but she is a new 5th grade teacher.  Last year she worked with the interns and new teachers. I interviewed Mrs. Coates and found out many interesting things about her. Her favorite food is chips and salsa. Her favorite thing to do in her free time is garden and sew. She has been a teacher before she came to Park.  Mrs. Coates is very nice and is a wonderful teacher.

In celebration of the fifth anniversary of Macy’s holiday “Believe” campaign, the retailer is bringing the beloved “Yes, Virginia” animated special to life on school stages across the country! “Yes, Virginia The Musical” is based on a true story and tells the heartwarming tale of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, who wrote a letter to the New York Sun newspaper in 1897, inquiring about the existence of Santa Claus.
