Fourth Grade Field trip

The 4th graders had the oppurtunity to visit the Alf Engen Ski Museum and Olympic Park near Park City, Utah on March 31.  The students were shown a video that gave a history of the area and how mining attributed to Park City's growth and that the skiing industry helped save that mining town from becoming a ghost town.  The students also got a review of the water cycle and how it effects us in Utah.  The students got to see many exhibits from the history of skiing to exhibits of 2002 Olympic medals and skiis that were used in World War II.  At the end of the tour the bus

Basketball Shoot-Out

Mrs. Tricia Jensen, our P.E. teacher, recently held a basketball shoot-out for the 3rd - 6th graders.  Each contestant  had one minute to score as many points as possible.  All the students who signed up, had a fun time trying to set new records for themselves.  The overall winner was Matt Taylor, a 5th grade student.

Park School Students Raise $4000.00!

The Park School student council wanted to help the students of Park School make a difference in somebody's life.  That someone is Korbin McEwan, a first grade student in Mrs. Hunter's class.  Korbin is battling a serious illness and the student council, under the direction of  fifth grade teacher Mrs.

World Renowned Motivational Speaker visits Park

Chad Hymas is from Rush Valley, UT.  When he was in his twenties he had a farming accident.  This accident left Chad paralyzed from the chest down.  He is a world class wheelchair athlete and once wheeled from SLC, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada!  He is an amazing speaker and we were very lucky to have him visit our school.  Chad talked to the 2nd through 6th grade students about making good choices and being able to live their dreams.  He told the students to listen to their parents and teachers about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.  He reminded the stu

Mrs. Smithee's fourth grade class at the Rendezvous

Mrs. Smithee's 4th grade class held a Mt. Man Rendezvous on Feb. 12th.  They have been studying Utah Mt. Men in Social Studies this school year.  The students dressed up like Mt. Men and participated in activities such as: pin the tail on the beaver, a stick pull and arm wrestling. We want to thank  Mrs. Olsen, Mrs. Powell, Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Palmer for helping us with the activity rotations, and to Mr. Elmer for cheering us on. We all had a skookum(good) time!

Spelling Bee at Park School

The competition was tough.  All the Park Spelling Bee contestants had prepared.  Everyone watching were impressed at how well these Spelling Bee contestants were doing.  It was a battle to the last speller standing!  Great job to all of those students who participated.  Congratulations go out to the winners!

Opera by Children at Park School

On January 21st the 4th grade students presented 3 mini-operas.  Each opera is written by the students, the props and set design and the costuming is done by the students with some teacher and parent help. 

The operas were based on events in Utah history.  Mrs. Smithee's class presented: "The Midnight Mystery" a pioneer story.  Mrs. Perschon's class presented: "The Watches of Time" a time travel opera to Thistle, Utah.  Mr. Hales' class presented: "The Pony Express" a wild west adventure.

Utah Water Van Visits Park School

The Utah Water Van is an educational outreach program offered by The Living Aquarium to fourth grade students throughout Utah.  Our presenters Ashley Kerbs and Kristen Bonner brought models to help teach our students about the water cycle, Utah weather, water conservation and Utah wetlands.  The students were also able to see a garter snake and a tiger salamander up close and personal.  The program was very interactive, engaging, and fun.              We learned that Utah is the 2nd driest state i
