Sing Around the Tree

A cherished Park tradition around this time of year is Sing Around the Tree.  Park students gathered in the auditorium for three days to sing Christmas songs and listen to a Christmas story read by a Park Elementary celebrity (Mrs. Banks, Mrs. Barron, Grandma Pat).

The most exciting event took place on Thursday, December 19th, when Santa Claus made an appearance as students sang Here Comes Santa Claus.  Students were thrilled as Santa made his way down the aisle to greet them!

Park Elementary's very own Mrs. Banks was honored with Nebo School Districts PEAK (Positive Energy And Kindness) award on December 11, 2013 at the December board meeting.  Mrs. Banks exemplifies the PEAK award to the highest degree.  Mrs. Banks was surprised with flowers, hugs and kisses, by her family members and grandchildren that were able to attend the meeting.  The following is a collage of phrases by Tamra Lybbert, Ryan Kay, Lorie Graham, and Sheralyn Lowe who nominated Mrs. Banks for this award.

Nebo Foundation Awards Grant For The Leader In Me

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

You've heard the saying around this time of year "It is better to give than to receive."   In this case, Park Elementary was happy to receive.  Laura Taylor, Dale Phelps, and Earl Davis from the Nebo Foundation along with Lana Hiskey from Nebo School District, awarded Park Elementary with a $1,000 grant for The Leader in Me program.  In return, Park Elementary is building leaders for the future that will make a difference in our community.

Park School Receives Check From Sonic Night

Mr. Kay and PTA President Pat Christianson happily accepted a check of $330.48 from Sonic in Spanish Fork.

Earlier this year, our PTA teamed up with Sonic and organized a fundraiser to benefit Park Elementary.  Park families were encouraged to attend Sonic Night for dinner during the hours of 5-8 and Park Elementary would receive 10% of the total sales during those hours.  It was a great turn out and students had a great time eating and being with their families.

We are grateful to our PTA and Sonic for their contribution to Park Elementary.

Park Elementary kicked off their W.I.G or Wildly Important Goals assembly on November 26th.

Tuesday morning was a strange one to students when they saw teachers in the hallways and classrooms.  Many students asked a similar question with a puzzling face..."Why are you wearing a wig?"

First and Fifth Grade Buddies

Each Wednesday the fifth grade students buddy up with a first grader to read, practice spelling, or in this case, a special math integrated art activity.

When asked about working with a first grade buddy, Mckenzie said "I like helping them learn."  Mckay said "I like that they help and I read to them."

We are proud of our first and fifth grade leaders that are making a difference in the school.
