Speech with Mr. Glenn

Submitted by bristi.poulson on

On Tuesday, September 10 Mrs. Leifson's class had their first visit from Mr. Glenn, our speech specialist. Mr. Glenn talks to us about making correct sounds for our letters. He usually has a wonderful story to share with our class. He talked to us about our lungs, larynx, lips, tongue and teeth helping us to say the sounds correctly.

Native American Tribes and Cultures

Submitted by bristi.poulson on

Fourth graders enjoyed a presentation about Native American tribes and cultures. They learned about different tribal dwellings and how they hunted/gathered food.  They also got to see different native american artifacts and learned that many of those items (cradle boards for example) are still used today.

5th Grade Reading Buddies

Submitted by bristi.poulson on

First grade students love having their fifth grade buddies come each week to help them with reading! It is a win-win when our fifth graders have an opportunity to serve and our first graders have a positive reading experience with an older mentor! Way to go Leaders!

NOVA

D.A.R.E. was great, but NOVA is awesome!  Park Elementary is lucky to have Officer Peterson share his knowledge base with our 5th graders this year!  NOVA has a focus on helping youth to seek out and achieve success in life.  It's motto is "Illuminating the Path to Excellence".

Back-to-School Night

Submitted by bristi.poulson on

Last night students and parents filled the gym at Park Elementary.  They were introduced to the faculty and had a chance to meet with their teachers for important school information.  After that, everyone gathered outside on the black top to enjoy a hot dog dinner and listen to a band play some great music.

On-Time Attendance

Submitted by bristi.poulson on

At Park Elementary W.I.G stands for Wildy Important Goals. We have an attendance WIG that we are excited about. It states that 100% of students will reach their 90% on time attendance goal by May 2020. This means that all students need to be on time and present at school for 90% of the school days this year. Here is a picture of a student in Mrs. Taylor's 1st grade class marking her on-time attendance tracker in her leadership binder. Way to go Leaders!

Here are a few photos of our Gingerbread Man Day in Kindergarten.  We had a super fun day today.  We learned lots of rules and procedures, took a tour of the school, met many wonderful school helpers, chased the Gingerbread Man and decorated and ate our cookies.
