Miss Utah visits Kindergarten

Miss Utah, Dexonna Talbot, visited the kindergarten classes to share her experience with a young man who had been pranked in regards to a school dance invite.  She talked about using her voice to inspire others to be kind. Bullying is never acceptable.  She read her book to the class and donated a copy of it to us!

Technician Thursday

Today we had the opportunity to watch the amazing stunt masters team, they are a BMX group and did such a fantastic job and our student sure enjoyed them.

Art City Chess Tournament

The Art City Invitational Chess Tournament will be held Saturday, January 25, at Art City Elementary.  Registration is open now, and is $10 if students are registered by this Saturday, January 18.  Registration cost then increases to $17, and is available through Thursday, January 23.  No registrations are accepted after January 23.

TEACHER TUESDAY

This week's teacher Tuesday is Mrs. Taylor, she is one of our amazing 1st-grade teachers. 
We asked Mrs. Taylor the following questions and here are her responses. 

  • Have you always wanted to be a teacher? if not, when did you decide that is what you wanted to do?

I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 3rd grade.  My best friend and I would always play school.  I’d ask my teachers for extra worksheets so I could play school.

Give Kids a Smile

Utah Give Kids a Smile will be holding their annual event on February 29, 2020 at the Utah College of Dental Hygiene in Orem. This event provides free dental exams and procedures for qualifying low income students age 5-12. Attached to this post is the qualification information, and consent form. For students to participate in this free event parents need to complete the Heath history and consent form faxed in by the deadline.

Crystal Apple Award

When I think of the Crystal Apple Award and what it represents, Bristi denitely deserves this honor. Bristi Poulson was awarded the Crystal Apple by her fellow teachers at Park Elementary. Bristi is a leader in her classroom, on her team, school-wide, and at the district level.
