Park Elementary has been recognized by the Utah State Office of Education as one of the 2011 Utah High Performing Title I Schools. This recognition is provided to Utah Title I schools that are able to demonstrate high levels of student achievement. To earn the Utah High Performing Title I School Award schools must make Annual Yearly Progress for at least two years, score at or above the state average on state math and language arts tests, and be nominated by their district superintendents. Our teachers, staff, students and parents have worked very hard.
We have some new faces at Park Elementary School for the 2011-12 school year. We would like to welcome Miss Lindsee Brice and Michelle Hartman to the second grade team. We welcome Mrs. Sarah Sumsion and Mrs. Aprel Mendenhall to our sixth grade team. We hope they will be happy here at Park School. We are glad they are here and know that they will add strength to our faculty.
The month of May brough out sprinters, long jumpers and long distance runners as the Spanish Fork City Recreation Department sponsored the annual Hershey Track Meet. The majority of the Park Elementary School students from grades 3-6 participated in this event. The weather went from cold, to cold and damp, to beautiful depending on what day your grade level was assigned. Despite the weather conditions all who participated tried their best and had fun. Congratulations to all who won! (Pictures are from the 4th grade meet)
Mrs. Shauna Hatch recieved the Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year for Park School. On May 16, 2011 Craig Harvey of Horace Mann presented Mrs. Hatch with a certificate and some goodies representing how the staff at Park School feels about this great lady. Mrs. Hatch was originally hired as a Title I technician and now she is also an office assistant secretary. Mrs. Hatch is one of the nicest people here at Park School. She is a breath of fresh air. She is always positive, understanding and willing to lend a listening ear. Mrs.
