Champions Challenge Reading Challenge

Submitted by ryan.kay on

We are excited to kick off our Champions Challenge Reading Challenge.  Several members of the Fiesta Days Rodeo committee along with Miss Rodeo Utah, McKenna Hales was on hand to not only teach students about the sport of rodeo but to offer up incentives to keep up with their good reading habits.  They even got Mrs. Gardner to dress up as a rodeo clown and get in the barrel.

All during the month of March, if students reach the goals set by their teacher they will be entered into a drawing.  At the end of the month we will hold an assembly and one lucky winner from EACH grade will win a pair of tickets to the Champions Challenge Rodeo.  Major sponsors of the rodeo love what the rodeo committee is doing in Spanish Fork, so they wanted to help sweeten the deal even a little more.  All of the ticket winners will be put into a drawing and TWO students will win a pair of Cowboy Boots from Justin Boots, a Pair of Wranglers from Wrangler Jeans and a Cowboy Hat from Resistol.  Those two lucky winners will also be invited to participate in the opening program of the Champions Challenge Rodeo!

We didn’t want to be left out of all the fun at Park so teachers got together to come up with one more way that they can help students read even more during the month of March.  If as a school we reach the goal of 200,000 minutes read in March, teachers have agreed to take a pie to the face.  We will take the top five classes, put their teacher on stage and draw one of their students to come up and take aim with a pie!  Now, just to show that you are never too old to learn or to have a reading goal, all of our teachers have committed to reading each night as well and checking in with Mr. Kay each Monday to receive their reading ticket.  We wonder who the winning teacher will choose to toss a pie at?
