The twelve Park Elementary Student Council representatives and Mrs. Cooper attended a conference at BYU on Oct. 4, 2012 for student councils from all over the state.  They had an enjoyable time learning to be leaders.  They learned that it is "cool to care" as they learned to prevent bullying.  Presenter Brent Burnham quoted Ghandi, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." Presenter Ryan Redebaugh said, "The students in your school will remember you far longer by how you treat them--not by your "Spirit" days.  Presenter Darroll Young taught them the army's leadership requirements.  Students learned and played some fun games with Presenter Mike Cottam like "People to People" and "Evolution."  Presenter Brad Barton taught through magic that the hard way is really the easy way and the easy way ends up being the hard way.  Many of the representatives chose John Bytheway as their favorite presenter.  He told how he climbed a mountain to a lake and also how he gave one of his kidneys to his brother.  He said, "You'll be a lot happier in life if you focus on what you can give, instead of on what you can get.  He said that watching TV all the time was watching other people living their dreams.  You need live your own dreams!
